I wish Nic all the best on his next great journey. I grew up with him, and while I didn't know him very well, he was always there - solid and serene in his own way. I have a vague memory of him playing as a child with a cape and a crown - it might have been a play, or just a game - but he was slaying dragons and saving maidens and villages, and being a true knight. I'll always remember him like that.
ReplyDeleteI truely admire how Nic explored whatever lessons he could from adversity and chose to grow despite all things - I only hope to face my own challenges with such good grace.
When I found out he had passed on, I decided to remember him in my own odd way. I sat down, and ate a peach in his honour - to remember all the richness of life in it's simple pleasures, and to remind myself to live in the moment more, and most importantly - to grow.
Love, to Nic and his family - Everyone who's life he touched will continue to draw strength from his memory and from his strength of character when we face our own obstacles in life.

My husband and I just came from the funeral. It was such a lovely service - so fitting for Nic. He would have loved it I am sure! We saw that he has touched many people through his illness and how he has dealt with it. This will ripple out to many and make a difference in the world. I think he would like that. I personally would love to have a chance to read some of the speeches again if that is possible. It was so hard to hear with the doors open and the fans going. I am sure many people who could not attend would love that also.
ReplyDeleteIt was an honour to know him.

ReplyDeleteRest in Peace my brother.
I have only just heard of Nic's passing, and of the remarkable record he created with this blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure to know Nicolas when he was a student at TWS. He was a wonderful student and a lovely person.
I never knew Nic, but just read his blog as I am an alumni of TWS. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved reading his blog and was able to feel so much emotion through his writings. I am sure he is in a much better place. And, I am sure he is with his mother. G-D Bless you.
